General Motors’ OnStar telematics service had trouble with a service update this weekend, and as a result, close to 6 million subscribers have seen intermittent service disruptions and extended wait times.
According to a surprisingly spin-free report by FoxNews, an OnStar representative said that emergency services were still available, but that some customers were experiencing extended wait times on “Blue Button” concierge services, including turn-by-turn directions.
Fox notes that customers were previously notified about the service update, but that the extent of the issues experienced was not then known. The service is currently showing difficulties adding new subscribers and reactivating closed accounts, but that OnStar hopes to resolve the issue as soon as they are able.
Until then, OnStar subscribers will just have to drive their cars like everyone else on the road, or ask Siri for help.
