Less than 24 hours after bringing you the first pictures of the DS4R that were leaked onto the web on Thursday, Citroën released official images of the concept model that will be make its world premiere at the 82nd Geneva Motor Show in early March.

As reported, the DS4 Racing Concept is powered by a tuned version of the 1.6-liter turbocharged engine found in many of the PSA Peugeot-Citreon group models and which was developed in conjunction with the BMW Group.

In the DS4 R concept, it puts out a whopping 256 HP – that's 160 HP per liter, which Citroen says is a record for a mass-production car. At the same time, despite its high output, CO2 emissions are just 155 g/km.

Like the DS3 R that kicked off the French firm's “Racing” performance line, the DS4R study makes its presence felt with a ground effects kit that includes tweaked bumpers with large air intakes on the front, carbon fiber trim on the grille, a diffuser at the rear, wheel-arch extensions and side sills.

Furthermore, the ride height has been lowered by 35 mm compared to the regular model and the tracks have been widened by 55 mm at the front and 75 mm at the rear giving the car a squatter, more aggressive stance.

Citroën is not saying, but sources state that a production version modeled after the study will follow next year providing the French carmaker with a direct competitor against the VW Golf R and the Ford Focus ST.

IED Details the New Cisitalia 202 E Sports Coupe Concept

The car Henry Ford II described as the most beautiful Italian vehicle he had ever seen, has inspired the creation of a new concept model called the Cisitalia 202 E, which will be unveiled in the flesh at the 82nd Geneva International Auto Salon this March.

Following the release of the first renderings, IED has published more details on the modern day Cisitalia 202, which is the work of eleven students of the Master course coordinated by Pininfarina Lead Designer Luca Borgogno and Maserati designer Luigi Giampaolo.

The idea for the Cisitalia 202 E came from Chen Chin-Hsuan from Taiwan, who was helped by: Shaaz Abbasi Bin Saeed from India, Yaroslav Chumachenko from Ukraine, Yo Kobayashi from Japan, Vasily Kurkov from Russia, Andrea Leoncini, Daniela Spina and Pasquale Meli from Italy, and Soowan Park and Yoon Seul Ki and Soohan Yun from Korea.

The Cisitalia 202 E is a two seater coupe that measures 4,270mm long, 1,850mm wide and 1,240mm tall. It rides on a 2,650mm wheelbase.

The original 1947 Cisitalia was powered by a small displacement 1.1-liter inline four-cylinder engine delivering only 55bhp at 5500rpm, but thanks to the coupe's low kerb weight of just 780kg (1,720 lbs), it propelled it to a top speed of 165km/h (102mph).

In line with the times, the concept gets an unspecified, compact V8 engine that produces 450bhp and is mounted up front driving the rear wheels.

“To encourage our students to overstep their limits, they must have the possibility of developing exciting, ambitious projects," said César Mendoza, Director of IED Turin.

"What greater challenge than to redesign one of the most beautiful cars in the world? An extraordinary opportunity. Taking advantage of this occasion and with the support of Cisitalia and the commitment of lecturers and coordinators, we have achieved outstanding results not only with regard to the life size model of the vehicle but in all the projects proposed, making it extremely difficult to single out that to be presented in Geneva," he added.

Toyota FT-Bh Concept to be Unveiled in Geneva

are made available to the public, an even smaller hybrid version is already being fleshed out. The Toyota FT-Bh is the Japanese auto maker’s latest concept vehicle and is expected to bow at the Geneva Auto Show early next month.

The Toyota FT-Bh concept was designed to achieve maximum fuel efficiency, and has been composed of materials that won’t hurt the environment. The FT-Bh stands for Future Toyota B-segment hybrid and varies from its sports coupe cousin in a few ways. The most noticeable difference with the Toyota FT-Bh and the sporty coupe is that the latter is a front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout. It’s not known yet how the FT-Bh will be configured, but since its sole purpose is to achieve the best fuel economy possible, front-wheel drive can’t be ruled out. Inside, Toyota claims the FT-Bh is as spacious as the subcompact Yaris.

Toyota took five aspects into account when designing the FT-Bh to achieve the best fuel economy and lowest emissions: Weight reduction; optimum aerodynamic performance; powertrain efficiency; thermal energy management; and electricity saving were all big focal points for Toyota during the FT-Bh’s development. The FT-Bh produces about 50 percent less carbon dioxide than other vehicles similar in size

Romanian Team Dreams up a 6-Seater Modular Hybrid Concept Called SCI hyMod

We have a long way to go before the world adopts electric vehicles as the primary mode of transportation - if it does, that is, as we may see different technologies taking over down the road, but for now, both the industry and governments around the globe are making moves to promote their use with the masses.

And while mainstream consumers remain hesitant to accept electric vehicles, many people believe that they could at least provide a viable solution in certain segments.

IED Turin to Revive Cisitalia 202 Coupe with a New Concept Model in Geneva

Regarded by many as the template from which all great sports cars were born, the 1947 Cisitalia 202 is undoubtedly one of the most important automobiles in history. Designed by Battista "Pinin" Farina, it was honored by New York's Museum of Modern Art in 1951.

To create a modern day successor to such a famous vehicle is a gargantuan task, but it's one the students of the Master of Arts in Transportation Design at the Istituto Europeo di Design of Turin (IED) are willing to undertake.

The student will present a modern reinterpretation of the car named the Cisitalia 202 E, where "E" stands for ""evolution", at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March.

"The concept faithfully reflects the design of the historic vehicle, with dimensions and power aligned with modern times," said IED in a statement.

Further information will be released closer to the Geneva Salon.

First Official Photos of MINI Clubvan Concept Hit the Net

Just yesterday, we reported about Mini's plans to reveal a concept model for a light commercial application based on the Clubman, and today, the first official photos of the new Clubvan hit the interwebs ahead of its world premiere at the 82nd Geneva International Auto Salon in March.

There's nothing really innovative or interesting, for that matter, about the Clubvan as the conversion from passenger model to van is pretty straightforward with Mini simply eliminating the rear seat bench and boot floor to create a continuous loading area.

Mini's designer also added a partition to separate and safeguard the front passengers from the cargo area and covered up the rear side windows. Other than that, there are no differences between Mini's breadvan study and the regular Clubman.

It remains to be seen if the British company will introduce a production version of the Clubvan.
